As Thunder Bay’s only independent standalone storefront for window coverings, it may seem unusual for Verticals N’ Visions to be associated with auto detailing and paint protection film.

But the acquisition of Ming Car Care was an obvious move, as they were the 3M film dealer.

“I was looking to expand into the window film business so that our clients would have different options for their windows,” Les Swan explains.

Combining both services under one roof “made perfect sense.” In 2017 they completed the acquisition and added 3M window films to their line of products, which includes sun control as well as security films.

Customers at Ming will continue to receive quality automotive detailing, such as cleaning as well as rust proofing, undercoating, sound deadening and window tinting.

And customers at Verticals N’ Visions will continue to receive the best service for blinds, shades, shutters and window film.

“We’re the window covering specialists,” Les states. Now in its 33rd year, the business is a family affair. Les is the chief estimator, handling commercial and institutional projects; wife Cathy takes care of the store and ordering products; and son James looks after installations.

Les is quick to point out that while they may be family-owned they would not be where they are today without the dedicated employees that work with them.

Ming technicians have been trained in the proper application of 3M films. They now employ the only 3M-endorsed Architectural Graphics Installer in the area.

“Continuing service after the initial installation is another hallmark of our work,” Les says.

The designers at Verticals N’ Visions offer complete in-house consultation, showcasing numerous samples and choices.

In-store repairs are also available for most makes and models of blinds.

Along with many private homes, custom-designed products from Verticals ’N Visions are prominently displayed in the community. They have helped furnish City Hall, Hilldale Retirement Residence, the Sister Margaret Smith Centre and Prince Arthur’s Landing, with their motorized and manual roller shades.

“Service and pride of workmanship is what makes this company stand out,” Les says. “No job is too big for us to look at.

“Our customers know they can count on us. We stand behind our work one-hundred per cent.”
